We are Frys Karate and teach the style of Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan.  Soo Bahk Do is a traditional style of defensive martial arts. Soo Bahk Do focuses on the whole person, mentally, physically, morally and spiritually. Briefly speaking Soo Bahk Do uses tphysical techniques derived from the combative arts of the Chinese, Okinawan, and Korean, to “Maximize students strengths and minimize weaknesses,” through strong powerful and circular techniques, (kicks, strikes, blocks, and throws).

Soo Bahk Do translates to "the way of the striking hand" Moo Duk Kwan translates to "The Institute of Martial Virtue." It is the organizational body for Soo Bahk Do, encompassing the philosophical aspects which define our art.Established on November 9th, 1945 by our late founder, Grandmaster Hwang Kee, following the liberation of Korea from Japan after World War II, his unique art combined kicking from Korean Taekyon, postures and philosophies from Chinese Tai Chi, forms and techniques from Japanese Shotokan, and techniques and philosophies he discovered in the ancient text, "Moo Yei Do Bo Tong Ji." Moo Duk Kwan (also known as Tang Soo Do at that time) quickly became the most widely practiced and highly revered traditional martial art in Korea.

Soo Bahk Do Karate is for everyone (age 4 to 75). You may join at anytime, we are open year round. Our practice methods do not condone deformation of any body parts. Fry's Karate is a certified member of the US Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation and World Moo Duk Kwan, Hwang Kee’s art known as Soo Bahk Do, Tang Soo Do, or Moo Duk Kwan. This gives us a direct connection to the roots of both Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwon Do. All rank promotions are internationally certified. You will find each class taught by highly professional instructors who are able to blend both ancient philosophy and tradition with modern scientific application. Our internationally standardized curriculum teaches physical techniques including forms, self-defense, and non-contact sparring applications. Soo Bahk Do is much more than a form of exercise or self defense. Soo Bahk Do is a way of life that helps cultivate and refine a person’s mind, body, and spirit. Fry's Karate began teaching the Korean Karate of Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan in January 2017 in Newburgh, New York. Now located at 145 Windor Hwy Ste 209 New Windsor NY, 12553.
